Gross Darkness

Darkness closes in on the day

And the gross night envelopes

The sun of righteousness.

I’ve opened up a Pandora’s box

And I know now

More than I knew previously.

This makes me fear the dead

And live in the shadow

Of a creature I cannot understand.

What prevents me from deciphering

The puzzle of eternity?

Who is this soothsayer

A man of God or a villain most vile?

What have I done to deserve such awful misery?

The demon searches for me and clings to my heart.

Rid me of this devil who torments my very soul

I cannot comprehend anything

While he lives to pressurize me.

Blood I see now everywhere I go

And I too bleed for this lost soul

Because I am too rank.

Begone worthless piece of flesh

Begone from me and leave my sanctuary in peace.

I’m a humble worker

And I don’t want to delve in evil.

Begone ghoul before the night comes.

Son of Man come to my aid

In this hour of temptation.

Son of Man wash and cleanse me

From this reeking blood that covers me.

Cry to the heavens, take the stake

And lash out at my tormenter.

I am crowded on all sides

By the ghost of the pages I read.

Begone slave of darkness

Before I lose my mind to the night.
