The Rain Forgotten

file0001453400651

The rain has been forgotten by everybody but not by me,

I live in the land of fallen droplet memories that I need.

As soon as the rain was forgotten I remembered a monsoon ago,

When you held my hand & said you cared which I can’t forego.

It is a regular practice of today to cry in the rain,

All the songs sing it & all lovers do it to relish their long-lasting pain.

I have never wanted to dance in the rain but the day you smiled at me,

I drenched myself wet with you in the rain for you to see my glee.

You dear one have forgotten the rain of our love so pure,

I am left therefore forgotten in the rain without a cure.

Tears smeared on my wet face hides in the rain drops of the clouds,

I remain silent but I want to wail & scream your betrayal out loud.

Famine came to our land while the rain was not with us,

All crops of lover’s harvest had turned sorrowfully to dust.

The rain was forgotten the moment you said you loved another,

Since then I walk bare-headed in the rain & do not seek for cover.

Why did you have to go away pray tell me why dear rain?

Is it so late to start afresh our acquaintance & to begin all over again?

Little forgotten rain drops drizzle upon my window sill so cold,

You left me with too many memories which have now become a load.

Sing another song in the rain one more time for a girl you did forget,

Speak sweet words spelt out before via the love you did project.

Is it really true young man of mine that you have forgotten the rain?

Don’t lie to me but speak truly have you forgotten our musical strain?

I heard your laughter once in the forgotten rain which left me happy,

Maybe if we had remembered the forgotten rain we would have still been together – had we?
