Gurvini Manasvini
(Women you meet today)

Mother & Daughter with Umbrella-Silhouette

An onlooker’s eyes aching in anticipation is better shun, she thought
Pushing them away, who could cosset and cuddle her into comfort.

She held tight her umbrella against fates’ rainstorm,
Ready to plunge into whatever may come.

To let not a deluge of opinions affect her determination,
She took shame but never solicited her ear to anyone.

A self-stitched tapestry of her own history, present, future,
She braced herself in times that would make her shiver.

Turning stone to a wool-ball has never ever been difficult,
For she mastered how a stone for a stone to catapult.

Scorching heat, struggle has become her old success story
Today, not a million daughters make her worry.
