Nandana Dev Sen,an international actress, screenwriter, children’s author, and child-rights activist, has done a marvelous job in her latest picture story book for children titled Mambi andthe Forest Fire. The book launch will be taking place at Mumbai’s favourite bookstall ‘Kitab Khana’ from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.,
on the 29th of January, 2016.
Mambi and the Forest Fire teaches us the simple philosophy that we have been always told by those who care for us, that we all are special. Everyone has got some special quality or talent that sets them apart from anyone else. In the words of a renowned master, it said that God created our mould when we were formed in our mother’s womb…and then threw away the mould, for He did not want anyone to be like the unique person he had created.
Mambi, the little monkey, is yet to learn that truth about life. Mambi has been well crafted by Nandana Dev Sen as a shy but observant monkey. Mambi’s eyes shimmer, when she sees her friend Koko the crow fly so effortlessly from place to place and her tail swishes in delight when she notices the ease with which Tonga the turtle swims in the nearby pond.
Mambi wishes to be like them, until a certain calamity strikes which indirectly bring to light the special virtues and talents unique to Mambi herself. She then along with the children who will read this wonderfully written and illustrated book learns that everyone is special. This story teaches our children who are so overwhelmed by this competitive world that:
We all have special gifts
We must never try to imitate someone else
We all are unique
This makes Mambi and the Forest Fire a must read for all children especially those below age 8 as well as for their parents who will thoroughly enjoy not only the rich language used to create a wonderful story, but also enjoy the beautiful illustrations by Saskia Pekelharing which will definitely catch the eyes of our little readers.
Mambi and the Forest Fire can also be used in a variety of ways to get children including toddlers interested in the written word by great dialogues which keep up the suspense in the story. All in all, a wonderful pick for a child.
