Frozen Love

Ask the cold winds of the night
What they want with me?
They dampen the earth with icy dew
And they sprinkle a chill over ones arms.
Cold are the instances
Of a one-sided love affair.
Freeze the winds of frost that throw
Hailstones from their abode in heaven.
Please what can I do if my lover
Is inhumanly cold to my longing gazes?
What can I ask the freezing breeze
From the dark blue sky to do
But envelope me in its cold embrace?
Mix my congealed blood
With the snow that falls over my eyelashes.
The snow is virgin white
That showers itself
Covering the earth in an unblemished gown
For a marriage ceremony.
The night is icy, the waters are frozen
And my heart is still beating to the pelting of hailstones
On the roof of my broken dreams.
Sleet chills the bone to solid ice
And my tears melt within my eyes quietly.
So like an aimless lover of winter
I walk uncovered to the ferocity of the weather.
Only the snow so white and clean
Covers me and my dark world
Of shadows and nightmares.
The glaciers are melting
And the breast of the polar bird is frigid.
I’ll ink my glazed thoughts upon a sheet of ice
Where the marine life lays unfrozen
Till the break of a much wanted summer.
