#Poetry ‘I Don’t Want You back Again’ by Fiza Pathan

I Don’t Want You Back Again

By Fiza Pathan

The news came to my ears

Beating a tune like a bass guitar.

Someone said she left you

And so you are lonely

Wanting to travel to the other end.

Getting back to the past with your pen and your guitar

Singing songs to the nightingale and

Breaking more hearts on your way back to me.

Melancholy is my drink and delirium is my paradise.

The day you said you loved her,

I’ve been injecting wine so sour into my skin.

Now you say you are coming back to me

But, I don’t want you back again.

If I were a dead corpse with maggots eating at my edges

You would shudder and run away back to the clouds

Without shedding a single tear.

So I might fret and may be vanquished forever

By the ocean of pain.

But I don’t want that stale and empty romance again.

I don’t want you back again.

Everybody is harping on the sonnets heartbeats

Saying that I am still there, lying on your coffin of disdain.

They think I still love you and that’s why

I’m still crying my life away.

So you left your lagoon of ecstasy to come back to me

But, I don’t want you back again.

My life is empty now, nothing for anyone to gain.

Wishes are the shadows made on the flight of the vulgar vulture.

So I will carry my sting of your lying eyes.

I’ll strum my own guitar to the tune

Of the snowy bloodless hail.

I can’t bear another person, to leave me for a mirage.

I don’t want you back again.

Now you are standing up infront of me

Singing your old song of promise.

My nails are filled with dirt and my wounds are infected.

But you don’t realise, you can never see.

You say that you will never leave my life again

But, I don’t want you back again.

Giving is the act of the divine, mortals can only forgive.

I don’t even know how to spell, the shooting star’s full name.

Who took away my impressions of loving the insane

Of rendering compassion, to me, to one and to many.

I can’t bear it anymore, I’m fatigued and I’m in pain.

But I don’t want to be mistaken anymore.

I don’t want you back again.

Say you will use the belt on me.

Say you will kill yourself.

Say you will tell all you know.

Say you will spoil my life again.

Say you will take me to the Church.

Say you will treat me good back someway.

But I don’t want to be mistaken anymore.

I don’t want you back again.

Once bitten twice shy. Nicely crafted.

No harm in burning certain boats. But I believe in building bridges. But the Poem is good.
