Lifeless Beat

My poor heart is weary of the world and its splendours which bedazzle the mind to drunkenness,

Your fire of love lit up my little heart into passions which it could not comprehend.

With that same fire of ecstasy you put out the flame of everlasting amour,

You brought along my death, as a skull with bones as my food and blood as my drink.

That was when this heart of mine started to beat strangely with a doomsday clang of a lifeless beat,

This is my lifeless beat of passion set alight by pure delight but was cast away into the dying embers.

This lifeless beat is cold and reeks of blood so dry upon my skin like a leper who is to die,

Your love killed my heart and gave it a hungry beat to call to pray that entire lie in the grave so silent.

Hush! I say to my beating heart that drains the energy of my resources from my mind,

This lifeless beat is the doleful song of the sorrowful lover so painful and throbbing enclosed.

Love is a short letter of happiness but it terminates in a litany of never-ending misery,

I found in my lifeless beat a song of the aeons chanting in the gloom of the night.

Sometimes I cry with tears not drenching my broken heart only my blouse when I think of you in this lifeless beat,

Your image appears to me wherever I go in the past or in the present while the future I cannot take hold of.

This lifeless beat will never leave me like the red blood of life that runs within your veins,

This curse will remain with me forever more that my heart will desert me when I will want repose.

You were my lover please confess what concoction did you make my heart inebriated with,

It burns inside me with every lifeless beat of my heart that drains the colour from my ruddy cheeks.

Therefore now with this echo of my lifeless beat will I cherish a loss so engulfed in tears and screams aloud,

Lifeless beat now punish me with your frozen hand to drum my pain to the hell of a love departed – O what a chill it is that does not produce fear but sadness.
