Somewhere Out There
by Fiza Pathan

Somewhere out there in the midst of a bustling crowd lies my other half too astray to be united,

I roam the whole world to find one more sorrow in the eyes of a person who will begin my tomorrow.

Somewhere out there he is chasing the noon day sun with a net of blossoms and lilies for my virginity,

I roam the city to catch a glimpse of his mesh of roses so that I may be ensnared by his loving embrace.

Somewhere out there I shall see him tearing my past apart and stitching a future of bliss as fragrant as a flower,

I roam the townships of the learned to gather my lover’s thoughts about his ocean of deep drenched love for me.

Somewhere out there he is waiting for me although I don’t know his name or whether he is on our plane of existence,

I roam the cosmos with my senses turning inward towards the lotus of enlightenment to gain myself some of his favour.

Somewhere out there I know there is one for even me with the eyes of the soaring eagle and the looks that will set me on fire,

I roam the orbits of the planets to gather some star dust to decorate his eyelashes with the specks of the purest light.

Somewhere out there I know he listens with the patience of a sage and the kindness of a gentle rain,

Someone or the other is made for me in this world – He will not be far, he may be somewhere out there.
