The Time Is Here

The time is here, do please be prepared

With your fingers and not your brain;

The time is here, do please be prepared,

You have to vote for your government again.

 

The time is here, its worse than doomsday

For your family all above eighteen;

Some have got voting cards, some don’t

While yours does not have your correct name on it.

The time is here, do get your name right,

You have to vote for your government again.

 

The time is here, but you hate to admit,

Choosing among lame ducks is not your favourite theme;

The symbols are weird and the posters too large

That you wonder where exactly your taxes are going.

Don’t fret or bother, just gaze and stare,

You have to vote for your government again.

 

The time is here, your leaders will tell you so,

They will fill you with chicken meat and liquor,

Unless you prefer tea with jeans.

The time is here, do not overeat,

You have to vote for your government again.

 

The time is here, so wear cotton balls in your ears.

To keep away those blaring catcalls that torment you day and night.

Don’t shout or scream but slip into a daydream,

You have to vote for your government again.

 

The time is here but which shall it be you say;

All seem the same upside down or even right-side up.

So why do you even bother;

Just choose your favourite symbol like you play tic tack toe,

You have to vote for your government again.

 

The time is here, it was here since 1947,

And has remained still, till 2014;

Ages have risen but no faces are changing,

It seems you are the only one who deserves to retire.

Well don’t go off retiring before you’re through,

You have to vote for your government again.

The time is here, look carefully.

The veterans up in the clouds look upon you with shame;

Ignore them for otherwise you will be in a fix,

For they up there do not appreciate your rioting dish.

Close your eyes and press the buzzer,

You have to vote for your government again.

 

The time is here, make sure you don’t fall asleep,

On that day when you are to vote;

Stand in a queue to vote for the bull

Who with his sharp horns will needle you

The rest of your five year boon.

Don’t leave town or country,

You have to vote for your government again.

 

The time is here, so remember my advice,

And keep it in your deep heart’s core;

Where there lies an empty conscience,

Evil makes a home.
