You Are Always There

By Fiza Pathan

file2081261989223

You are in my every breath and in every beat of my heart,

But more than that, you are always in my thoughts.

You are in my every memory and in every sigh that releases from my bosom,

But more than that, you are always in my mind’s eye.

You are in my eyelashes and in every smile, that beautifies my face,

But more than that, you are always there when I need you.

You are in my songs and in every line of poetry that I write,

But more than that, you are the blood that flows into my ruddy heart.

You are in my promises and in all my longings,

But more than that, you are there in all my lower passions and desires.

You are in my prayers and in all the songs I sing,

But more than that, you are in my innermost sanctuary-my soul.

So darling lover don’t be cross with me,

Read every line that I write and judge for yourself, my sincerity.

For every merriment my heart indulges in,

Is infused with the alcohol of my true love for you,

Which makes me dazed and often leaves me all alone.
